Aromatic rose petal, earth, peat, pepper and hints of menthol, barley, minerals, malt biscuits and saline infuse honey. Lovely intensity.
The palate opens with some oily, almost creamy spirit character followed by dry peat, earth, cereal, rose petal, honey and minerals. The oak adds a very subtle vanilla note on the middle. Masked, earthy, gritty finish with lingering sweet pineapple, peat, menthol and woody herbal notes.
A drop of water opens the nose beautifully. Now showing dark apricot, sweet apple and more malt. Still a good dollop of peat, honey and manure. With time a little lime, sweet barley and carbolic soap. The palate displays sweet barley and honey. The peat is a little more astringent in character now and a distinct leafy/ nettly note has appeared on the middle. Longer with gritty, bitter, chocolatey spice, tannin, earth and peat in the finish. Slightly mentholated after-taste.
