Gauntleys Single Cask Bottling

We are delighted to announce that the next bottling of our Single Cask Malt Whisky will be released by the end October 2023, and like the last release, it is seriously limited. Those of you who purchased the last bottling of the Officers Mess will remember that it was a peated Bunnahabhain, or Staoisha as it is called, and it went down a storm. This release is also a Staoisha and is in fact the second half of the very same cask, now over a year older - and the difference in flavours is amazing.

Although the final number of bottles has yet to be confirmed (the bottling process has yet to commence) we will be looking at circa 100 bottles only - so you will need to be quick off the mark. As a point of reference, last year we received 108 bottles and sold out in 3 weeks!

''The nose is earthy, herbal, malty and mineral but it has still retained the lovely crisp white fruit from the previous bottling. Salt, honey, vanilla, lime oil, manure and plenty of green pepper/ capsicum appears. Wonderfully elegant and possibly a little more complex than before with late wood spice, lemon and soot.

The palate opens with the green pepper/ capsicum, lime, minerals, salt and subtle earthy spice and peat. The saltiness builds well on the middle palate with hints of bog myrtle, earth, tobacco and drying spice. A little masked, but a mouth-watering finish with sweeter peat, herbal spice and earth. Subtle vanilla, green fruit and capsicum after-taste.

Water emphasises the sweet white fruit and citrus, less peat but still pleasantly salty. The palate is a little denser, oilier and almost honeyed. Again, less peaty but still earthy and showing a little more oak. Long, spicy green pepper/ capsicum and mineral finish….. Yeah, that’s good!''
