Glencadam Single Highland Malt

Set in the strikingly beautiful Strathmore Vale on the outskirts of Brechin in Angus, Glencadam is one of Scotland's lesser known distilleries, but also one of it's best. Founded a year after the excise act of 1824, Glencadam has been used principly in blended whiskies such as Gilmour Thompson's Royal Blend which was, by all accounts, a firm favourite of King Edward VII, Ballantines and Stewarts Cream Of The Barley however, the Glencadam is also a fantastic Malt in it's own right!

The Glencadam makes for ideal summer drinking as it it has a lovely light and fresh character, especially at the younger end of the range. The flavours and the complexity develop nicely as you go up the age scale with the 21 year being silky smooth and honeyed! If you are looking for a gift of excellent quality, but want to avoid the obvious, Glencadam could be just the thing!

Glencadam 10 year old 46%

Re-Tasted: Aug 2014 The nose displays less tropical fruit than previous but more herbal barley. However the fruit is still there in a light honeyed/ perfumed form. Hints of peach, pear, tangerine and pineapple emerge along with some creamy oak and sweet spice.

The palate is like the nose, opening with a touch of digestive biscuit, mash tun notes, barley and lightly oiled tropical pineapple, peach, apricot and orange. Some lovely honeyed notes come through on the middle as does a touch of creamy oak. Long, slightly grassy and citrusy finish. Its still one of my favourite 10 year olds!

Please note that the branded Glencairn glass is not included with this bottle. It however can be purchased separately for £8.95
