A punchy and earthy nose with peat briquettes and medical herbal/ seaweed notes. Superb intensity and coastal freshness. Beneath lies some honeyed apricot and pear along with a touch of white chocolate, vanilla pod, malt and coffee.
The palate is full with lightly oiled barley and apricot, followed by herbal/ medicinal peat, bog myrtle and earthy peat. Lovely, opulent, malty middle with building salt and peat. Vibrant and windswept but full and fruity with a long lightly tarry and vanilla'd finish, displaying oodles of fruit and barley. Subtle white liquorice and botanical after-taste.
Water emphasises the oak on the nose, the peat intensity is lessened but the peat is sweeter. On the palate is very similar and shows a little more malt and coffee'd oak. Still long, herbal and medicinal. To be honest there's no need for water at all.
