The nose is quite tight and cereally with liquorice, malt and rose petal. There is some very subtle estery white fruit and apricot, but it’s very much about the cereal and feels like an old fashioned Lowland. With time some pepper, aniseed/ fennel and oxidised fruit.
The palate is tight, malty and slightly herbal. There is a touch more treacly sherry showing along with some dried fruit and spice. Hints of youthful rose petal on the middle. Masked, bitter, citric finish with lingering barley husks.
Water emphasises the barley and citrus on the nose. A little more of the sherry can be discerned now along with tangerine, rose oil, cinnamon and bark. The palate is softer and fuller but now shows less sherry character and more vanilla. Good length with apricot, malt and vanilla finish.
