The nose is salty, earthy and barley'd with subtle peat, vanilla and fishy notes. Lovely freshness with malt, apricot, apple, marzipan and an almost ozone-like fresh, coastal note.
Full and barley'd. It begins quite subtly with regards to the coastal/ salty notes but the build throughout. Fishy, earthy apricot and a gentle touch of peat on the middle. Subtly oaked with masked, spicy, rose oil and malt finish.
Water emphaises the oils, fish and Springbank character. The Campeltown character is cleaner and shows more Glen Scotia malt, dark oxidised fruit and coffee. Not as salty. The palate is maltier but lighter in body. Less earth and more Springbank fishiness. Malty, dark, oxidised fruit on the middle with building salt. Long, herbal, coffee'd, salty and spicy finish.
