The nose is quite phenolic, tarry and ashy with green apple and medicinal Islay-like notes. Hints of malt, fish and subtle oak appear. Youthful, but not too youthful and showing none of the feintiness of earlier releases. Late green pepper and manure. The longer it is left in the glass the more Islay-like it becomes.
The palate shows more malt and vanilla, thus feels fuller. Still a bit medicinal with green pepper, fish, barley and tannin. Masked, green fruit, both apple and olive as well as pungent green spices come through on the middle. Masked with lingering green fruit and fish.
Water knocks back the peat on the nose and brings out more of the citrus fruit, barley and some oak too. On the palate there is also less peat and more milky oak and barley. Still slightly medicinal and showing plenty of green fruit and capsicum in the finish. Returning milky oak on the after-taste.
