A polished and full nose of lightly perfumed marzipan oak and corn. A little earthy rye nibbles at the edges. With time it develops a lovely coffee/ chocolate richness along with a hint of sweet violets and a light herbal note. Excellent depth and maturity.
The palate is soft and mellow, opening with hints of lightly bitter chocolate, coffee’d and sweet vanilla oak.. The brazen yet soft earthy rye wades in brining oodles of herbal rye with it. Wow what a burst on the middle! There’s rye spices flying all over the place! Long and rather drying and woody but the timely arrival of some oily corn balances. However it’s the spices that steal the show and linger. The sweet vanilla returns in the after-taste.
