A heavily peated, intensely woody and herbal nose. Quite manurey with subtle, oily apricot, chunky oak and hints of coffee and salt.
The palate is a little masked with subtler, but still pretty phenolic peat, tar and manure. Subtle notes of barley coffee and oak sit beneath and the finish is very alcoholic but showing menthol, mint and camphor.
Even with a drop of water the nose is still very herbal with camphor, heather, cucumber and lime. The peat is also still very noticeable but the salt, barley and apricot is still there. The palate is a little lighter and sweeter with the emphasis more on the barley than the peat. Hints of lovely, sweet apriocot, apple and peach have appeared along with a touch more oak and menghtol. Dilution has also brought out the saltiness as well. Long and smoky with returning sweet fruit, pepper, gritty tannins, coffee and salt. That’s very impressive now!
