An intensely pungent nose of earthy peat, winey fruit and grippy tannins. Wild and medicinal with iodine, bog myrtle, farmyards, dirt, peat, tar, loam and subtle fortified red fruit. Untamed and Sauvage!

The palate opens with pet and coal dust, coal tar, molasses, earth, medicinal peat, brine, tar and creosote. Hints of winey fruit and gritty tannins and whoa! It's alcoholic! Woody, earthy and tarry finish with the peat sticking to the mouth, combined with a wild, invigorating coastal saltiness. Decomposing grass, seaweed and rich, coffee laced peat after-taste. That's how Octomore should be!

With water the nose becomes oilier, fishier and brinier with a pronounced lemon note and a little more vanilla, dried grass and bog myrtle. Still displaying a lovely peat intensity with less winey fruit. The palate is still quite gritty but there's more of the oily youthful spirit character showing with hints of sweet barley and mashtun. The peat is a little softer now but still intense and mouth-filling. Long and barley’d with lingering lemon and sweet worty notes.
