The Shed Distillery
The Shed distillery was founded by serial entrepreneur P.J Rigney in 2013. Situated in the picturesque village of Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim, the distillery apparently got its name because the construction team took to calling the dilapidated building “the shed” when they began the process.
The distillery features five copper pot stills, three are used to make Irish Whiskey and the other two are used for the production of their Gunpowder Irish Gin, there is also two copper column stills which make the Sausage Tree Vodka.
Together with head distillery Brian Taff they produce a traditional Irish Pot Still Whiskey made from a mash bill of malted and un-malted Irish barley with Irish Barra oats matured for around five years in a combination of Kentucky Bourbon barrels and Oloroso Sherry casks. This is fittingly, simply called Drumshanbo and it’s a very good whiskey!
