The nose opens with the noticeable rummy sweetness and subtle, earthy peat. It develops some herbal and astringent peat along with barley, toffee and some lovely fresh, mineral notes.
The palate also opens the rum cask sweet dried fruit and earthy peat and smoke. The herbal and astringent peat notes appear along with barley, toffee and granity minerals. Lovely balance and length with a spicy, herbal, mouth-watering finish and lingering rum notes.
A drop of water makes the nose softer and the rummy fruits fleshier. Less peat and more barley and vanilla. The palate mirrors the nose in showing a little less peat and more rummy fruit and oak vanillins.
