The nose is youthful, oily, earthy and very spirit driven. Subtle 'off the still' notes, sweet barley, rose petal marc, juicy red fruit and subtle vanilla appear along with soil, iron, flint, loam and brittle barley. The oak character is very minimal and thus the nose is very terroir accented.
The palate opens with oily barley and subtle 'off the still' notes. There's a touch of vanilla and sweet Vin du Natural fruit but its very mineral and flinty, almost to the point of austerity. Hints of spicy red fruit, pepper, tannin and more pepper come through on the middle. Lovely intensity. Medium length, continuing spicy, peppery and mineral with lingering barley and returning red fruit in the after-taste.
