A young, slightly feinty and salty nose with a touch of ‘toshan-esque strawberry mousse notes. Briny and peaty with hints of pepper and earth. With time it settles down to show some barley, lemon and biscuity notes. It does have a slight alcohol prickle and in a way it reminds me of a young Ardmore.
The palate opens with more of the vanilla oak. The peat and brine notes are subtler, possibly down to the oiliness of the spirit, but the emphasis is still very much on the peat smoke. Hints of barley, white fruit and grass. Punch, peaty finish, a little short but intense with a violety and oily finish.
