Initially the nose is a little high toned with herbal sherry and a classic, robust, malty character. Subtle sun dried raisin, barley, gooseberry, and fleshy dried fruits. With time smoky and tasty oak appears.
The palate opens with some wonderfully soft, treacle coated dark fruit. Like the nose the robust and fruity Longmorn character is evident, and the oak adds a good structure. Hints of barley, citrus and grilled nuts on the middle. Masked, spicy, tongue tingling finish with a dry spice, treacle, and wood smoke after-taste.
Water calms the nose down, it’s less high toned and more aromatic now. The palate isn’t as heavy on the palate, thus more distillery character, and nutty oak shows. Long, juicy, and slightly spicy finish.
