A rich and treacly nose which has quite a Pedro Ximinez-like demeanour. Quite sweet but the intense spirit character/ alcohol balances. Smoky and herbal with burnt green wood, peat, raisin, prune, tar and a touch of rose petal marc.
Rich, softer, less gritty on the palate with again a Pedro Ximinez-like feel. Quite tarry with building, drying tannins and very herbal , burnt green wood, peat and wood spice, however the tar and treacle balances. Intensly spicy, alcoholic and tannic finish with lingering dried fruit, tar and peat. Uncompromising to say the least!
Even with a drop of water the nose is still pretty treacly and tarry with more prominent peat and a little less sherry. Hints of apricot, honey, violets, fish oils and manure have now appeared. The palate is still quite herbal and sherried with a very disnct winey/ grapey dried fruit character. Long and still spicy with lingering herbal Oloroso, earthy peat, treacle and rose petal marc.
