A deep, rich, robust and quite peated nose with plenty of salt, malt and oily apricot, peach, pear and banana. Hints of stewed fruit follow with earthy peat, heather and a touch of orange marmalade, iodine, creosote and barley. The nose has a pleasant weight and some mature spirit at work.
The palate is rich, full and waxy with apricot, apple, barley and malt. Lightly salted and subtler to an extent on the peat. Hints of orange marmalade and sweeter barley emerges along with rich loamy peat, burnt wood, salt, tar and sweeter barley. Mouth-filling, long, rich and sooty with lingering tar, brine and subtly sweet stewed fruit. Great balance and a great price too!
