The nose opens with a good intensity of freny/ herbal peat, subtle medicinal notes and very, very subtle rummy sweetness. With time salt and fleshy white fruit.
The palate displays more of the rum character with sweet dried fruit, malt and smoke. Intense, salty, coastal, peaty middle which blows the finishing cask notes away. Masked, herbal white fruit finish with a peaty finale.
Water brings out more of the sweet dried fruit and honey but also intensifies the saltiness. The palate is fuller and oilier with a touch of vanilla joining the rum notes. A little less spirit character but it finishes with the herbal, subtle peat and salt.
