The nose displays a good intensity of gristy barley, rose petal and hints of oily peat, tar, coffee, black pepper, vanilla, earth, turmeric and dried apricot.
The palate is intense but soft with again, gristy barley, apricot, pear and plenty of oily, tarry, earthy peat. Masked finish with a touch of earthy rose petal.
Diluted the nose becomes deeper and softer, but also showing more of its edgy youthfulness as well. Still there is plenty of oily peat and rose petal. The palate is oilier and shows more barley, straw and earth. Like the nose there still a good degree of peat. Longer and continuing oily with subtle sweet barley, apricot and sweet American oak. Good slightly spicy tannin finale.
