A lovely mature but fresh nose with sawdusty American oak, green apple, gooseberry, vanilla, lime, white chocolate and hints of sweet tangerine, clementine, apricot and honeysuckle. It comes across more like a mature Spey than a Highland. It also doesn’t display the usual bready character but it is beautifully aromatic with late cinnamon and toasted wood spices.
The palate is full and mature, but like the nose has a lovely vibrant, fresh citric edge. Juicy barley, apricot, sawdusty oak, lemon and lime. It also shows more mineral Highland character but again not much in the way of the usual breadiness. Very long, gorgeously juicy finish with lingering mature oak, spices, citrus and minerals. Lovely nutty vanilla after-taste.
