The nose is gristy and barley'd with plenty of sweet, heathery peat. Hints of lemon, malt, coffee, black pepper, rose oil, manure, farmyards, decaying rose petal and subtly milky vanilla. That's a characterful nose!
The palate is gristy and barley'd and shows a touch more oak vanillin. Raw, earthy, manurey peat follows along with rose oil, grass, heather, pepper, dark spices and heather. Very masked and a very peppery finish with lingering dry/ crumbly peat, green pepper, lime. Black peppercorn after-taste. Seriously intense stuff!
Water makes the nose rounder, less raw and a touch oakier. However, there is still plenty of youthful peat and manure! The palate is much the same. Less raw and intense but no less complex.
