Beautifully mature and elegant with oodles of tropical melon, apricot, guava and luscious, buttery oak. A hint of sherry in the background, however it is the American oak aged spirit which is hogging the limelight. Incredibly deep and complex with developing notes of minerals, honey, brandy butter, cinnamon and ginger.
The palate is wonderfully silky and slightly toffee'd with the sherry influence more noticeable, but not swamping the mature barley and fruit. Hints of straw, earth and walnut shell follow along with some vibrant citrus notes on the middle. Extremely long and slightly creamy finish, but the juicy fruit keeps on going to be joined by a touch of crystallised stem ginger, heather, peach, sweet ginger powder, vanilla and coffee. A truly amazing whisky!
