The nose is kicks off with plenty of spirit character - dense, weighty, oily and slightly honeyed. The finishing casks adds hints of spicy red fruit and dusty tannins. With time almond oil, cherry, dusty vanilla and coffee.
The palate opens with juicy red fruit and dusty spice/ tannin. Honey, barley and vanilla follow on the middle along with a touch of nutmeg, almond, toasty oak and cherry. Slightly masked, earthy finish with the winey red fruit returning. Lovely progression and chocolaty after-taste.
Diluted the nose shows less wine influence and more distillery character. Very dense and very honeyed now with just a touch of aromatic red fruits. The palate follows the same theme. Less tannic and more chocolaty with the floral, lightly honeyed spirit character lingering.
