A rich, dense and honeyed nose with hyacinth, musky orange blossom, apple, pear and hints of fudge and old fashioned perfume. A very impressive nose.
The palate has a lovely density, but the alcohol is very noticeable. Thick set honey coated white fruit, apple, apricot and hyacinth. Masked but spicy finish with lingering perfumed flowers and grippy French oak tannin.
Water opens the nose out to show orange conserve and white wine notes. Less perfumed but still honeyed with a touch more spice. With time barley, lime, lemon and pepper. The palate shows more vanilla and grapey notes. Like the nose it isn’t as perfumed and displays more zippy citrus, lemon curd, lime, white pepper and barley. Long spicy finish.
